An attempt by a former Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye to upturn his conviction and sentence to a 10-year jail term, has been turned down by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
In a lead judgment delivered by Justice Helen Ogunwumiju, the Court also dismissed charges of misappropriation of funds which carries a two-year jail term
It would be recalled that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), had arraigned Dariye in 2007, accusing him of diverting N1.126 billion from the ecological funds of the Plateau State government.
