Wamakko Wins Reelection, Defeats Sokoto Deputy Governor

A former governor of Sokoto State and senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Sokoto North, has been winner of the senatorial election in the district

Wamakko, who was declared winner on Sunday morning, defeated his closest opponent, the state deputy governor, Manir Muhammad Dan’Iya, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with a margin of 23,023 votes.

The The Returning Officer for Sokoto North, Ibrahim Magawata, while announcing the results Sunday morning, said after the supplementary elections, the candidate of the APC, Aliyu Wamakko, scored total number of 141,468 to defeat Manir Dan’Iya who garnered 118,445 votes.

With his victory at the polls, Wamakko is returning to the red chamber form the third term.
