The much expected COVID-19 vaccine has finally arrived Nigeria through the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja.
The nearly four million doses of the AstraZeneca/Oxford COVID-19 vaccine, manufactured by Serum Institute, India, was shipped from Mumbai via the COVAX Facility, a partnership between CEPI, Gavi, UNICEF and WHO.
“Nigeria has just received the first batch of Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID—19 vaccine,” a presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad tweeted on Tuesday.
Also, the United Nations in Nigeria, in a statement, said the arrival marked a historic step towards the goal to ensure equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines globally.
