The Senate Minority Leader, Eyinnaya Abaribe has called on security agents to stop the indiscriminate arrest of innocent Igbo youths and tagging them as criminals attacking government facilities in the South-East.
According to the lawmaker, security agencies have been going after innocent people going about their legitimate businesses instead of going after the real criminals.
The Abia North Senator, who spoke when he appeared as a guest on Arise TV on Thursday, further stated that it was sad that anytime there is an attack on public institutions, the security agencies would go round communities arresting innocent youths. He however advised security agencies to conduct thorough investigation to be able to identify and bring out criminals involved in the act.
“Civil engagement dictates that you investigate, apprehend and prosecute,’ the Senator said.
