The South-East geopolitical zone on Sunday, after a meeting of the governors of the zone in Owerri, the Imo State capital launched its own regional security outfit codenamed Ebubeagu.
The meeting of the governors also had in attendance stakeholders of the region in what turned out to be a security meeting, with the Navy and Air Force Commanders, the Inspector-General of Police, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other stakeholders in attendance.
The Imo State Government, while giving a brief outcome of the meeting on its official Twitter handle, revealed that the governors of the South-East have set up a joint security outfit.
“South-East Governors set up the South-East joint security outfit code named EBUBEAGU,” the tweet read.
The setting up of Ebubeagu is coming on the heels of several attacks on security agents and their locations in the region by gunmen allegedly belonging to the proscribed indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
