The new acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba has been decorated with his new rank by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
The decoration was performed at the conference room of the Vice President’s office in the presence of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Minister of Police of Affairs, Mohammed Dingyadi and the immediate past IG, Mohammed Adamu amongst others.
NaijaNewsNow reports that Dingyadi announced the appointment of the new IG on Tuesday while the then IG, Adamu was on an official to Owerri, the Imo State capital.
Born in 1963, Baba, an alumnus of Bayero University, Kano, and the University of Maiduguri, joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1988. He holds a Teacher’s Grade II Certificate (TC II) from Teachers College, Potiskum, Yobe State in 1980.
He obtained a degree in Political Science from Bayero University, Kano in 1985 and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Maiduguri, Borno State in 1997.
