Ogun Traffic Officer Kidnapped On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

An official of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Popoola Olasupo has been Kidnapped by unknown gunmen while he was on his way to his duty post.

Olasupo was reportedly kidnapped around 6.30 am on Sunday around the Eledumare-Fidiwo axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

A source in TRACE, who spoke on condition of anonymity to The Punch, confirmed the abduction, adding that policemen and some volunteers are currently on the trail of the gunmen.

According to the source, the gunmen, who emerged from the bush, opened fire on a commercial bus in which the official was travelling and he was the only one abducted.

Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi said: “Our anti-kidnapping squad is already after them. We are combing the forest and we know that they will all be arrested.

“Ogun State is not a ground for criminals to settle. It is either they leave or we smoke them out of this state.”
