Lagos Police Deploys Additional Riot Policemen To Correctional Centres

To forestall the Imo experience, the Lagos State Police Command has deployed additional riot policemen to correctional centres in the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, disclosed this after he received the new Controller of Correctional Service, Lagos, Comp Francis Adebisi, and his entourage, at the Police Command headquarters, in Ikeja.

Providing a brief detail of the meeting, the spokesman for the command, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Wednesday, wrote on Twitter: “The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu presently playing a host to the new Controller of Correctional Service, Lagos, Comp Francis Adebisi, and his entourage, at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja GRA. It’s in furtherance of the CPs plans to forestall attacks.”

Adejobi also qouted Odumosu as saying: “I have deployed additional mobile policemen to the correctional centres in Lagos State.”

The deployment of the mobile policemen is coming on the heels of the attack on the Owerri Correctional Centre in Imo State, where about 1,844 inmates were released by gunmen suspected to be members on the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)
