Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum on Thursday charged the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to keep to their words by allowing the presidency to be zoned to the Southern part of the country in 2023.
Zulum, who spoke while delivering a lecture at a book launch in Abuja, said there was a covenant among the leaders of the APC that power would rotate to the South after the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He added added that for the sake of the political stability of the country, the Southern region deserves to produce the next president of the country.
Zulum said: “I have advocated for power shift to the South, and I am not saying this so that I will become the vice president.
“Although it is not enshrined in the constitution, power rotation is a covenant between our political party and as a devout Muslim it should be kept.”
