Just In: Lawyers Protest Non-Implementation Of Judiciary Financial Autonomy

Lawyers in Lagos and Abuja under the auspices of the Nigerian Bar Association {NBA} on Monday protested against the non-implementation of financial autonomy for the judiciary.

The protest by the lawyers is coming on the heels of the nationwide strike embarked upon by members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria {JUSUN} to agitate for the implementation of financial autonomy for the judiciary as contained in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and an executive order signed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

It would be recalled that the NBA President, Olumide Akpata, had asked all state branches to stage a protest on Monday.

The lawyers, during the protest on Monday in Lagos, displayed placards with various inscriptions as they marched from Ikeja Bar Centre through Oba Akinjobi, into Obafemi Awolowo Way towards the Alausa secretariat.
