Just In: Again, Gunmen Attack Police Station In Akwa Ibom, Kill Six Cops

Gunmen, suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)/ Eastern Security Network (ESN) have attacked the Odoro Ikpe Police Station in Ini Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State in the early hours of Saturday.

The Gunmen, who struck when people were still sleeping, reportedly killed six policemen on duty.

NaijaNewsNow reports that the attack on Saturday morning is the latest in a streak of attacks on security operatives and their facilities in the state and in virtually every state in the South-East geopolitical zone by gunmen suspected to be members of IPOB/ESN.

Though IPOB have at several times denied the allegation of being behind the attacks, recent occurrences, including Thursday’s foiled attack on the Orlu Divisional Police headquarters in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State have reinforced the belief that the proscribed seccessionist group may be behind the attacks.
