The Presidency on Sunday denied promising Nigerians that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari will make one naira to be equivalent of one dollar
The denial was made by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, describing it as fake and false.
“It does not exist, it is fake, it is false, it is apocryphal, it doesn’t”, Adesina said on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.
The exchange rate of the dollar to major foreign currencies have been giving Nigerians cause for concerns, as it has led to high cost of goods across board and making many Nigerians to accuse the Buhari administration of reneging on its promise to stabilise the exchange rate.
Though the Presidency has denied ever promising such, campaign materials, including roll-up banners ised for campagns in 2015 by the APC, asks Nigerians if they were okay with the exchange rate of the naira to a dollar, which then was hovering around N200 to a dollar, compared to almost N500 to a dollar it is currently going for.
