Reports emanating from Kaduna, North-West Nigeria indicates that an unspecified number of female students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation in the Mando area of Kaduna, have been abducted by gunmen.
According to a witness, who spoke to BBC, half of the female students were taken leaving the Male students untouched.
This is coming days after President Muhammadu Buhari gave a two-month ultimatum to bandits operating in the forests of Zamfara but left out other states that have had a heavy banditry burden in recent times.
Confirming the development, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said investigation is ongoing, while the spokesman for the state Police Command, Mohammed Jalige, revealed that the exact number of students abducted is unknown.
“They were abducted last night, we have no details of the number of students and I can’t say if they are all female,” ASP Jalige said.
