Troops fighting insurgents and bandits in the North-East and the North-West geopolitical zones have been given marching orders by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Leo Irabor to eliminate unrepentant bandits and insurgents.
A statement on Wednesday by the Director, Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, said Irabor “ charged troops to be ruthless and more aggressive in decisively routing out unrepentant bandits and other criminals within the North-west zone, comprising Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto and Kebbi States.”
Irabor, who stated this when he led service chiefs and other military chiefs to Zamfara to assess the ongoing military operation in the state and to appraise the combat and operational readiness of troops in the area, pledged the support of the service chiefs to enhancing the fighting capabilities and efficiency of the troops.
The CDS also assured the troops of improved welfare and prompt resolution of administrative challenges bedevilling the operation.
