Presidential Election: Afenifere Knocks INEC, Says It Did Not Comply With Electoral Guidelines
INEC Chairman, Prof Yakubu Mahmood

The Independent National Electoral Commission {INEC} has said that the February 25 and March 11, 2023 elections will hold despite the prevailing fuel and naira notes scarcity across the country.

INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu said this on Wednesday when he spoke to State House Correspondents shortly after briefing President Muhammadu Buhari and other members of the Federal Executive Council at the State House, Abuja.

According Yakubu, the commission has settled the two major possible obstacles to its operations; fuel scarcity and the scarcity of naira notes.

“Rest assured that the elections will hold on February 25 for the Presidential and National Assembly and March 11 for the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly,” he said.

Yakubu however declined to comment on the Supreme Court’s decision to restrain the Federal Government from proceeding with the new naira policy.
