The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission {INEC}, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, is at the moment briefing the Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja.
Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, announced this shortly after Buhari arrived at the Council Chamber before the meeting commenced proper.
Yakubu is expected to brief the council on the commission’s readiness for the nationwide exercise.
He is also expected to brief the Council of State meeting to be convened by Buhari on Friday.
Naijanewsnow reports that Yakubu had on Tuesday met the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno and the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, where he expressed concerns that the current cash crunch may affect the flow of logistics ahead of the elections.
