Gunmen Abduct Journalist In Abia, Demand N10m Ransom

A former Correspondent with Sun Newspapers in Umuahia, Abia State, Chucks Onuoha has been abducted by gunmen from his Umungasi, Ohuhu Umuahia country home by gunmen on Tuesday night.

A family source said Onuoha, who is now the Editor-in-Chief of All Facts newspaper was abducted around 10 PM Tuesday night by the abductors who scaled the fence.

According to the source qouted by Punch Newspapers, the gunmen also went away with Onuoha’s Jeep.

The gunmen, according to the family source, have since established contact with the family and allegedly demanded a N10 million ransom.

The Abia State Police Command spokesman, Geoffrey Ogbonna said the command was yet to be officially notified of the incident.

The President-General of the community, Suleiman Anyalewechi however confirmed the incident to journalists, adding that he was contacted by the secretary of the community last night to inform him that some men took Chucks Onuoha away.

He added that they were not sure what it was all about until Wednesday morning when the kidnappers established contact with the family that he is in their custody.
