The Presidency, on Friday admitted it is embarrassed by the mass abduction of students in parts of the country by bandits terrorising the North-West and the North-Central geopolitical zones of the country.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu made the admission while speaking on Channels Television ‘Sunrise Daily’, adding that the frequent abduction of students embarrasses President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
According to him, President Buhari is quite conversant with daily events in the country, adding that “the fastest way to reach President Buhari is to reach the press and reveal the wrong doing that’s happening”, insisting that Nigerians enjoy the freedom of speech under President Buhari’s administration.
Shehu said: “This President is focused on securing this country, he is focused on the unity of this country and he will preserve it.
“People should be free to say whatever because this country is under the best democratic government that we have had since the fourth republic.”
