State governments cannot be forced by the Federal Government to Implement financial autonomy for state legislative arm and the judiciary, Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has said.
Lalong stated this an interview with the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) press corps in Abuja on Tuesday, insisting that there are procedures to follow before it can be implemented. He however added that state governors are not opposed to financial autonomy for the legislature and judiciary.
Faulting the Executive Order 10 signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari last year, the Plateau State governor hinted that state governors would meet with the leadership of Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria on Wednesday (today) with a view to ending the strike embarked upon by the union.
