President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday admitted that the Boko Haram insurgency has been largely fueled by the pervading unemployment and poverty in the country.
The President made the admission on Thursday in an interview with Arive TV.
Buhari, who claimed that his administration has done so much to fight the Boko Haram insurgency, however admitted that the situation in the North-East geopolitical zone is very difficult.
The President also said he believes that majority of the Boko Haram members are Nigerians because he was told so by Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum.
This is the first time the President is admitting difficulty in handling the insurgency in the North-East, as his government and the ruling All Progressives Congress {APC} have always claimed victory over the insurgents by claiming to have technically defeated the terrorists or degraded them.
