A former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has emerged as the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Atiku, the candidate of the party in 2019 presidential election, beat other candidates with 371 votes at the primary election held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike polled 237 votes to come second.
Other participants at the primary included a former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel a former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, amongst others.
Naijanewsnow had reported earlier that Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal stepped down for the former Vice President, Atiku.
Before then, a former Managing Director of FSB International Bank, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen withdrew from the contest, saying the process was ‘Obscenely monetised’.
