Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State must be a fast learner to have internalized the rule books of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari on passing the bucks when necessary.
The Ebonyi State Governor displayed how good a student of the APC academy he has been when, on Thursday, he blamed past leaders for the level of insecurity the nation is witnessing.
According to the Umahi, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, the failure of past leaders to invest in the future of youths led to the level of insecurity in the country.
Umahi, who spoke in an interview on Channels TV Programme, Politics Today, said: “When people talk about the recent insecurity in our country, I keep saying that the insecurity did not just develop overnight.
“It has been a result of the failure of our past leaders to address the future of our youths. And this is the truth. So it’s not a question of blaming Mr. President or blaming Governors or blaming APC or PDP; it is systematic and it has been there for a very long time.
“I think that we must deploy sincerity in our approach; we must deploy consultation, wisdom and prayers. If all these are put together, I am sure that the insecurity in the country will be a thing of the past.”
It would be recalled that the ruling party has variously come under attack for its penchant for passing the bucks to past administrations and refusing to accept its culpability or failure in the face of obvious challenges facing the country.
