The appointment of Usman Alkali Baba as the Inspector General of Police has been ratified by the Police Council two months after he was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in acting capacity.
The Council, presided over by President Buhari confirmed the IGP’s appointment at its meeting on Friday at the State House, Abuja.
The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi disclosed this while briefing journalists after the meeting, adding that President Buhari urged the IGP to justify the confidence reposed on him by reducing the rising wave of insecurity in the country.

Until his appointment, he was the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Force Headquarters in Abuja.
